Canadian Task Force Guidelines on Smoking Cessation Interventions

The Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care has released updated (August 25th, 2025) clinical practice guidelines on smoking cessation interventions. These evidence-based recommendations provide healthcare providers with the most current, practical, and patient-centered strategies to support people in quitting smoking.

These new guidelines replace the CAN-ADAPTT guidelines, ensuring alignment with the latest research and best practices. However, select CAN-ADAPTT recommendations (particularly those addressing special populations) remain relevant and continue to serve as valuable resources for clinicians and researchers.
