The
Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care has released updated (August 25th, 2025) clinical practice guidelines on smoking cessation interventions. These evidence-based recommendations provide healthcare providers with the most current, practical, and patient-centered strategies to support people in quitting smoking.
These new guidelines replace the CAN-ADAPTT guidelines, ensuring alignment with the latest research and best practices. However, select CAN-ADAPTT recommendations (particularly those addressing special populations) remain relevant and continue to serve as valuable resources for clinicians and researchers.
